abusive messages

I frequently visit a website similar to this, but with more stress on family/children; recently there have been some abusive messages; it may be one person or two who is posting them. I am aware there is nothing I can do as I am only a user, but I am curious to know, is there anything the site managers can do to prevent the abusive users posting any more messages?

What is the website? There should be a link somewhere that enables you to email the manager and report the people posting the messages, so they won't be able to use the site. If you give me the name of the site, I'll have a look
