Windows Media Player 12

Is there an alternative to the above?. Since upgrading to Windows7 and having to use WMP12(because it's supplied and the computer wont let you install WMP11) I've been getting all sorts of 'faults' created by MP12. Things like a track or two taken out of an Album and dumped somewhere else as an Unknown Artist. My music library is in total chaos and I'm thinking of deleting MP12 from the system. Can anyone help with an alternative or a suggestion to overcome this problem with MP12?

The two (free) all-purpose media players which are usually rated as far better than WMP are VLC and GOM. However I only use them for playing videos, rather than music tracks, so you'll have to see if they offer what you want:

For audio files though, the most popular alternative (free) media player is undoubtedly the mighty Winamp:

It's not media player causing the problem as such, it's the tags in your music files not being consistent.
