stoppng my plasma tv from "burning"

hi, i quite often listen to the radio via my freeview tv (Plasma), but find that afterwards, the logo is "burnt" onto the screen (faintly; of about 4 hours) is there anything i can do to stop this or will it hurt long term?

I have that problem sometimes with mine BN.
Switch to analogue TV channels and go to a dead channel (fuzzy screen) Leave for a hour or so. That usually fixes it.
On my Pioneer, can switch screen off when on radio channels.

mine is an LG. Where on your controls can you switch the screen off? Maybe i have something similar?

In the TV system menu under power options/auto switch off, etc.

How can you do that? You would have to select DVD player which would then lose the radio channel!

You are using a lot of electricity to listen to the radio.
I am sure there is a 'screen off' facility when listening to the radio.
Check your manual and your on screen settings.

I expect you have analogue audio selected instead of digital audio (thru HDMI) Weird behaviour uncommon with most I have seen.

can't you listen via the internet? Then you can turn off the monitor. You can connect the PC to an amp to improve the audio or send it to another room via extension speakers.
As has been said, you're wasting a lot of energy using the tv, not to mention the potential screen damage. many sets mute the video in audio-only mode (or at least disable the OSD banner) to avoid the burn problem, if this one does not, then what a crappy design!

You could always turn the brightness down to zero...
