I speak to my sister in Spain every week (on Wednesday). However we keep getting interrupted by a loud buzzing noise every few minutes. It lasts for about a minute and then goes off again. While it is on we cannot hear each other and speaking is impossible. Does anyone know what it is and whether we can cure it. We both like to see each other in this way, as it is unlikely we shall ever see each other again, in person, so I would, if possible like to get rid of this noise. Hope someone will be able to help. Hope it is something basic - I can't do anything too intricate as I am not very technologically-minded.

Yes, it told us to do this, but did not cure it. We have worked out a system by which when it is on we stop talking and then start again as soon as it is over, but this isn't very satisfactory. In fact it is extremely annoying. It sends little messages, such as 'There is a lot of interference on your sound' - as if we didn't already know!
do you have headsets?

No bednobs. Do you think that would help? If so I will get my son to fix them for us and send a set to her.
if i'm being honest i have absolutely no idea if headphones/mic would help
Would it be possible for just one of you to use a different computer? Just to see if it's one of the machines generating the noise.

Perhaps someone local to you could lend you a machine to set up at your home.

I think if I had this noise going directly into my ears via earphones it mght be a bit too much, bednobs, but thanks for the suggestion, I will certainly explore it.
Skellie - I don't know of anyone else with a computer, (they all come in and borrow mine) oh - I forgot, my son-in-law has a laptop. I will ask him if I can borrow it for a while and see what happens. Thanks for the suggestion.
