IP location choice

Hey! I wanna buy an ebook but can't unless I live in Australia. How can I modify my IP, location specific?

Trying to find a working anonymous proxy in Oz has proved to be difficult. The only one I've been able to connect to (albeit VERY slowly) is at 203.148.95.71 (Port 80).

The following instructions are for Firefox. If you're not already using it as your browser, switch now:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/

Click these:
Tools > Options > Advanced > Settings > Manual proxy configuration ('radio button')
In the 'Http Proxy' box type 203.148.95.71
Alongside that, set the Port to 80
Click OK twice.

Then go here, which will reveal the (apparent) location of your computer:
http://whatismyipaddress.com/
(It will probably take ages to connect, but it should say Australia).

When you want to get rid of the proxy setting, repeat the above instructions but simply select 'No proxy'.

I don't understand the 'unless I live in Australia'. Is this book offered by a charity run in Australia?

You most certainly can, as Chris has explained. There are other ways, of course, but the instructions above are by far the simplest to follow...

Oops:
Since your download might use FTP, rather than HTTP, I should have included the instruction to tick the box marked 'Use this proxy server for all protocols' (underneath where you enter 203.148.95.71).

That's probably not necessary, but it won't do any harm to include it.

Normally you can't modify any IP address to a specific location. But it is possible using proxy servers (or) VPN by changing it to any other countries like USA, Japan, London etc.. Only proxy servers is used for urgent need of changing your IP and its location. Its a false method of changing IP and can't be used often. Finally check your IP address from http://www.ip-details.com/ before and after using proxy servers.
