anti virus

Hi, can anyone recommend a free anti virus to download.My norton one has expired today and I need to have another. Thanks

Hi, you said Avast wouldn't install properly. I know this may sound weird but you did uninstall norton first didn't you. Otherwise it can interfere with another anti virus. Make sure you get it off your system altogether then put the new one on. I was always told not to have more than one anti virus on even if I only used one of them.

Hi theshedman, my Norton anti virus has expired. But I have now un installed Norton completely. This is getting really complicated, but hopefully its all done now. Thankyou to you all for your help.

I thought you had already uninstalled norton's mumsie. You needed to download the removal tool from their site too before you installed the freebie as Norton's is sometimes difficult to remove.

I didn't think to be honest. I just assumed that as it had expired all was OK. But it has gone now, no problem. Do these 'free' ones last forever or do they have to be re-newed every year??? I'm feeling a bit of a dumbo now !!!

Well I know AVAST even though free lasts for a year not sure about the microsoft one you have, maybe they will just ask you to update the version every so often.
