Also some people are just not bothered about security.
For example I walked past a house yesteday where someone had put a box out to be collected as part of paper recycling.
I glanced in the box and could not believe there were dozens of unopened letters lying on top. Anyone could have picked them up and the person would have been a prime target for identity theft.
I shred all my mail and other paper work that may have my name and address on it before disposiong of it.
But some people just dont care about security.

A lot of it is also the fault of ISPs in not explaining to people what they are getting when they supply a free router and in supplying wireless routers unsecured as default.
I've see loads of cases where a wireless router has been supplied to people for free that has a unsecured wireless connection on it as default and the people it's supplied to don't even use wireless so it never crosses their mind that they a) have a wireless network at all and b) that it's totally unsecured.

I have to admit,I did not even know my router was wireless and the kids got their psp's running, but luckily for me I run my desktop wired and the provider had automaticly set it as secure.
I feel a bit more secure in my own mind knowing a little bit more about windows Vista and 7 (thanks to you lot and three very good books)
strange though, put me on xp and I am lost! You can tell where my interest began-I am a Vista baby :-)
As for people that chuck out letters etc with sensitive information on-which these days I think just your name, dob and address count-maybe when they start getting threatening letters from catalogue companies they have never used they will invest in a shredder.
It's a tough lesson to learn but has to be done the hard way for some people for it to sink in.
