Not sure if this is the right area for this question, but here goes. What is the most powerful hairdryer you can buy in the United Kingdom? I need one for thawing out freezers for friends and family and at work as well. My friend has one which is 1400 watt. Can you get more powerful ones than this?

Thanks once again for your speedy answers, folks.

D97, that's just dangerous!
might as well stick my head in the fan oven, Tony.
True.
Yet another bizarre .. but amusing question.

I built one for my ex that had a Rover V8 engine powering it.

Thanks for your speedy answers, folks. I am glad to see you did not think that this question was a lot of hot air. Would there be one big enough to inflate a hot air balloon, I wonder?

I do not think I will be using the blowtorch option someone. That is too much of a good thing. How big a one would you need to melt the polar icecaps?
I'm glad to see you didn't include one of your usual puns this time- maybe something about bl0w jobs.

Is this your new business idea? Good luck with it.

I thought fridge/freezer manufacturers warned against using hairdryers to dfost freezers, presumably because of the damage it can cause.
Certainly don't try it with a Beko freezer.
What drugs are you using?
Can you send some to me?

: )
I just unplug it and use a a washing up bowl of hot water in the bottom, you need to top it up once in a while, the steam and heat from the water de-frosts it pretty quick, i just use a few old towels around the bottom and in the bottom of the freezer to soak up any excess water.

Dave.
I find it intriguing that Mollykins (a teenager) suffered such ignominy for her 'style' of postings and yet the OP (who purports to be two decades older) is indulged when doing likewise.
I'm with Webbo un defrosting technique.
