has anyone else had Q's orA's banned for no apparent reason on the AB? i have just had a very long and sincere answer banned, merely because i failed after numerous attempts to post it to the correct Q. When i couldn't, i put it somewhere else with a note to put it in the right place. but no, it and my note were banned. has anyone else had this kind of  treatment? i really enjoy the communication i get from the AB. as i am housebound. and things like this really bring me down, especially as i was attempting to help someone else! on top of all this the editor did not mail me to explain. just bad manners.

I have now had 3 questions banned. I haven't the faintest idea why - they were all completely innocuous, whereas one or two that were a bit borderline have been accepted. I'm beginning to think they ban questions randomly just to remind us who's boss.

I've also tried asking for an explanation, but never even received a reply - not even an acknowledgement .

As you say: just bad manners.

Hmmmm!  I've "just had an answer" and when clicking on the link got a strange page about AB's policy etc etc but no explanation and thought my question had indeed been blackballed.  My first attempt at posing it vanished into thin air when I hit the submit button!  I had taken ages to write it carefully & did less well the 2nd time!  However, when I checked within the category (this one & spotted yr query!), the question's still there ........ So, who knows what's going on??

Hope I don't get vetoed altogether - I love the site & find it extremely useful!

Me too - I had a question banned -all i asked was if a remote control was available for the PC! Also, links in emails saying you had a reply used to work but they dont now. In my opinion, i think the answerbank isnt as good as it used to be.
And the AB 'editor' (use the term in the loosest possible sense) has read your answers and has still ignored everyone.

I've had 9 replies banned but I know why - all were double posts or even treble posts!  Occasionally the page has a bug and you press submit and I end up having the same reply 2 or 3 times.  The person asking the question then presses 'Ban Message' as the only way of getting rid of the extra posts.

I wish edit/delete functions were made available to all posters.

ive only had one banned due to a double post

Dear Mr Piper,

As I informed you previously by email, if you look at the original thread to which you tried to post your response you will find your answer as requested by yourself.

Question Author

i am sorry, to be truthful, that there are others that have had these experiences, although i do realise that my Q's & A's are sometimes antagonistic, but they don't really contravene any rulings. That is to say i don't think they do, the lack of feedback does nothing towards good housekeeping on the site as you generally have no idea what you have done. i did expect there would be an answer from the editor in this thread, still, more of the same. We can only hope.

And by the way, to anyone that may have formed an opinion of myself and my character, I am actually  far less awful than you would imagine, i have had comments from people that put me down as being a disruptive annoying pratt. All i can say is that whatever i do, i always get a lot of response from my questions, and i am sure i make people think. No more than others, but there is my point, i am just a normal keen ABer!
