HTC Wildfire S or Samsung Galaxy Ace? - that is the question..

I qualify for a handset upgrade on my Orange Pay-Monthly Contract. Looking through the choices available, I'm torn between the HTC Wildfire S (free upgrade) or the Samsung Galaxy Ace for twenty quid.

This will be my first venture into Smartphones, Internet browsing is important to me - as well as the ability to send and receive calls and texts!

Which should I go for - or does anybody have any other suggestions?

Last weekend, I took delivery of the HTC Sensation. It's a brilliant phone. One of my daughter's has the similar HTC Desire HD but she admits that she'd prefer my phone.

Don't be put off by the size of it - I think it has one of the largest screens on the market because you see the benefits when browsing the internet or watching movie clips etc. The 8 megapixel camera is another great feature.

i had a htc widlfire for two weeks. I sent it back though. i found it far too sensitive and iti kept connecting to the internet and ringing people without realising!

The wildfire is considered a bit of a misfire.... as is the Ace. If you can go for the HTC Desire or Samsung Galaxy SII - it may cost a little bit more, but it will be more satisfying long term.

Thanks for your answers guys, my choice is based mainly on cost (or lack of - hopefully!). I'll check out those that you suggest ABEd.

I've got a wildfire and I love it, always said I didn't need an up to date phone, I just wanted a simple phone to call and text nothing else, but found myself using my daughter's wildfire more and more so took the plunge, wouldn't be without it now.

To conclude this thread - and thanks for all your answers guys. I got an Ace and I absolutely love it! Very pleased...... ;)
