TalkTalk 1mb - router can't get IP address for hours

I'm using a Netgear DG834G wireless ADSL access point on a TalkTalk 1Mb line. Every now and again, the connection to their servers drops and won't reconnect for hours. The router shows that the line is 'negotiating' which I understand means that it is trying to get the dynamically assigned IP address from TalkTalk. The last time this happened was last night when I rebooted the router and 12 hours later when I left for work it still hadn't managed to connect.
I raised a call with TalkTalk who responded with "we can see that this happens infrequently and we understand it must be frustrating" but no hint of a solution.
I have only recently switched to TalkTalk from Zen, and I had no such problems with them, but they issued a static IP address rather than a dynamic one
Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions ?

I would suggest that you keep up pestering Talk Talk as this sounds more like a service problem than a hardware issue with your router. I use the same router with BT Broadband and it only takes seconds to negotiate an ADSL connection.

Don't let them fob you off, demand answers!

Good luck mate.
