Are all countries keen on clamping down on illigal filesharing now? I know there have been some people getting fines in UK and AMerica, but you don't really hear about it elsewhere. I live in Eastern Europe and was wondering what the chances are of getting busted for downloading a few songs and that. Thanks.

Well if you don't steal you won't have to worry about getting caught, after all that is what you are doing or intending to do.

If i buy a CD and lend it to my friend, who puts it on his iPod. Is that stealing? U2 made hundreds of millions from their latest tour, so I certainly wouldn't feel guilty about sharing their music. I wouldn't however, because I loathe U2. Maybe someone should tell Bono there's no money for poor people because its all in his ruddy bank account
Morally, you may have a point.........legally, I'm afraid, you don't.

The example you give of your friend, the CD and the iPod *is* presently stealing....

I have no idea as to whether you will get caught, and rather believe that whatever decision you reach will have to be between you and your conscience...

Yes it is!
So because someone has made loads of money you think it's fine to steal some because they won't notice it.
I'm sorry but I simply don't agree with illegal downloading.
I asked questions like this the other day and they got removed after an hour or so!

OK. So I know it is wrong to steal (even from that Bono character). However, it seems that there is a difference between music and physical stock to me. If you make a pair of shoes to sell and i steal them, you will lose out on selling those shoes and lose money on materials. But if i have the choice of simply not buying a song or obtaining an mp3 at no cost to the musician, then what's the problem? The musician was never going to make money from me anyway. It all seems a bit daft to me.
