1TB is 1024GB so it's twice the size of a 500GB drive.

the obvious answer is go for the one with the biggest hard drive if all other things are equal.
1 terabyte is about 1000GB

It is about twice as big as your 500 Gig drive.
basically 1Tb drive is twice the size of a 500Gb drive. It's your choice based on price your willing to pay and how much storage place you want.
I'm glad we all agree, but I must learn to type faster ;)
Me too.

wendilla. tell them you insist on a 500 yottabyte drive or you'll go elsewhere.
Also, 3GB is really not very much these days and, depending on what operating system the new machine will run, may not be sufficient for certain tasks especially if you're one of those people who likes to have several applications open at once. If at all possible, consider getting more memory as well.

Thank you for your replies now could you tell me how I can find out how much memory I have on the one I have . I have had it over 4 years and I think it is just 2 gb memory .Thanks
I'd disagree slightly with MR here. I'd say 3GB of RAM is enough for most people, especially the average home user who just wants to do a bit of web browsing, emailing and type a few letters... and if the computer only comes with a 32bit version of windows then there really is no point in getting more than 3GB.

sure if you want to do any major picture, movie, or audio editing then more RAM would be of benefit (providing you have a 64bit OS)
Question Author
I don't do any major or picture editing. Is there anyway I can find out how much memory and hard drive I have on this one then I can have an idea how much more I can go for . Thanks
For memory right click on the my computer (or computer) icon/word either on the desktop or the start menu and select properties.

For hard drive, open my computer and right click on the drive(s) and select properties.
How much memory:
Right-click My Computer, choose Properties
Second line from bottom tells you RAM (Memory)

How big Hard disk
Double click My Computer
You will have at least one (possibly more) local hard drive
The total size and Free space is given for each drive
doohhhh!
Nice of you to join us :)
Chuck leave rojash alone he was dozing.

At the very least, check with your supplier that the amount of memory CAN be increased in case you discover that 3GB isn't enough. That way, you will prolong the useful life of the machine...

I have found this under Data free space 112gb total size 113gb.

And under local disk free space 14.4gb total size 29.9gb.
Double dutch to me.
I have a packard bell pc and the one I would like is also a packard bell 3gb memory and 500 hardrive home premium 64bit.
Ah. The old favourite system scanner link can help with that. http://www.crucial.com/uk/
That sounds rather modest. I guess you have little need of lots of space then. That said bigger is nicer if you feel like investing.
Question Author
Thanks for all your replies I understand a bit better now.
I had extra ram put in a few weeks ago but now it is coming up at times windows is increasing your size of memory so obvious I was done with that not knowing a lot about pc's. It freezes and have to wait ages sometimes for pages to come up . Think it has had it's day as not spending anymore on it .
