wat is the correct thing to do should you always leave the battery in or if using the leccy shud you take it out , does it make any diffence to the life of the battery ? cheers guys

You leave the battery in all the time - laptops are designed that way. Even if you run off the mains constantly, it's a good idea to use the battery occasionally - let it run down to 10% then plug in again. This gets optimum life from the battery.
I understood it was better to run it off the battery all the time an recharge when necessary.

I didn't know this so left ours plugged in all the time. The battery is knackered now.
Well, even lithium-ion batteries have a finite life - did you expect it to last forever?
Is that so, gingebee? I did not know that. How often should I do that, as mine is plugged into mains leccy all the time?
jonny: say once a week. My laptop is three years old and is used off mains, mainly. The battery is as good as new and I just use it about once a week, down to nearly flat and plug in again.
