about sound on monitor (follow up)

From my question about sound a few posts back .Would it be that I have windows 7 now. last computer was xp. Would that make any difference to me not getting sound.

As was pointed out under your previous question, for the sound to come out of the monitor, it first needs to get there. In order to do that it's got to be connected. Either you are missing a lead from the Audio out from the computer to the monitor, or your previous computer had some sort of proprietary mod that sent the sound down the 3 unused wires of the video connector.
