Computer Virus

Got a Virus on my PC, 6dss92c31apgik, and I have found a website that gives instructions to clear the virus by control alt delete, then Processes, then search for the virus name, we got this far but couldn't find the virus name. I am using my laptop at the moment. Will be grateful for any suggested solutions. thanks

If you install AVG it should deal with any virus on your computer.

Not now it wont.

Use Hijackthis to check the running processes and remove if necessary.
Be careful with it .. as it is possible of disabling Windows.
Once it is not running, you should be able to remove it with correct tools .. like rkill and combo .. something like that.
I hope you are proficient .. or you will have to do a full scan after starting in Safe .. hopefully after you disabled it starting.
If I were you I would also switch OFF System restore .. as it's useless to you at the moment. Re-enable it when system fixed. If you don't disable, there is a likelihood that you will be automatically re-infected.

There are competent folk who come here and may be able to talk you through the process. Failing that I do know of a PC help site I've used in the past and that specialises in PC problems. Just loathe to send you off immediately :-)

Even if you stop the process it will just start up again next time you start the laptop.

Stopping a process is just stopping a program (virus) that is running, it does not delete the program / virus.

You need to run an AV programs which may be able to get rid of the virus.

A quick websearch shows that program to be malware (rather than a true virus) which can be removed by any decent anti-malware program. Download and install the free version of Malwarebytes:

Boot your PC into Safe Mode (by pressing F8 during the boot sequence). Don't be alarmed when your monitor display looks very odd; it's because the video driver won't have loaded but it's perfectly normal.
Run Malwarebytes.
