Can i use my 3 sim card in my LG viewty unlocked phone

I hope someone who knows more than me can help. My grandsons phone has broken and he is on a ontract with 3. The phone is out of warrenty so they wont help and Mum cant afford a new one yet. We have an unlocked LG Viewty and wondered if his sim would work in it? I know you are going to say try it but he lives 100miles away so we would have to post it and it seems pointless if it wont work.

I forgot to add that the reasonI am asking is my daughter had an LG cookie and took it to get it unlocked but the man has rung and said he can unlock it but it wont work with the 3 netork as they use a different code

I have no knowledge of the 2 handsets you refer to, but if a handset used on a UK network is unlocked then any UK SIM should work in it. I'd get a second opinion about the Cookie were I you, it is my understanding that either the handset is unlocked or it's not.

why not just put it in any see if you can make a call if it does it works ???

The only thing I did think of was that if they were old handsets, I know 3 started out later than the other providers and presumably didn't invest in version 2 of the cell phone specifications, but went straight in at version 3 (hence the name). I think it unlikely, but I guess it's sort of possible that, that may make a difference; if the handset was version 2 only I suppose. But I'd have thought version 3 would be backwardly compatible with version 2.

Try getting a cheap unlocked handset off ebay? Cheap as chips. Find one there locked to the Three network and it'll a) definitely work and b) be a lot cheaper than an unlocked handset. Make sure it is locked to Three UK and not, for example Three Ireland.
