How do I.........?

I want to produce some rectangles on the screen in a certain arrangement and then put photos in the squares and print out the result.Can anyone please suggest which prog. and how to achieve this? Thanks!!

Adobe Illustrator. You can create the shapes you require, import the pic, place the shape over the pic, select both of the items and then make a clipping path, which will basically crop off the image around the shape leaving only the pic in the shape of a rectangle

Thanks shiznit but I haven't got that prog.Is that available with a free download??Perhaps someone will come up with another prog that does the same.

I'm guessing by the question that the OP has no previous experience at this kind of thing and you reckon Illustrator and clipping paths is the way to go here ?

if you have Word all you need to do is make text boxes and insert the pictures inside ,you can make them either squares or rectangles and any size

A pair of round ended scissors and a pritt stick is the way I would do it.

(They won't let me have pointy scissors)

Not if you know how to do it it isnt, I hardly think Illustrator (free trial or not ) clipping paths and its learning curve is going to be of much use here

I agree with baz.... but I'd also say that their suggestion of gimp suffers from the same steep learning curve problem (although it's a brilliant program for free and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to do any editing but doesn't want to buy photoshop)

1.Open Paint & pull in the piccie you want.
2.Left top click 'select' & ctrl C (copy) the picture or part of
3.Open 'new' Paint page
4.Top menu 'Image' untick 'draw opaque'
5. Left menu click 'rectangle' & draw on new page
6. Ctrl V (paste) piccie & adjust piccie size into rectangle
7. Enlarge white frame for more
8. Check 'print preview' for size etc
