I had a small window open up down in the right hand corner of my PC saying that the trial period for MalwareBytes had expired, please go to help for further info. Which I did and another message asked if I would like to buy the full package, or words something like that. I of course replied `No`. and when I clicked on M/Bytes in the start panel it stated that M/Byes was running.

Assuming that you don't want to pay for the full version, uninstall Malwarebytes from your computer. Then, if you simply want the free version, download it from the relevant link here:

You should note that the Pro version offers 'real time scanning' (which automatically checks the content of everything arriving at your PC) whereas the free version requires you to carry out periodic scans (or to simply wait until a problem arises).
