When I start my PC and point to Homepage, it is several seconds to appear and when it does it just freezes and I have to delete it two or three times before it will `make contact` so to speak.

by "homepage", your talking about internet browser. Now when you start your computer, your processor is working hard doing multiple tasks such as starting different programs. So when you click on your "Homepage/internet browser", this makes the browser freeze.

I suggest you turn off any unnecessary applications from loading when you start computer. To do this depends on your operating system. The following steps are for Windows XP;

1) Click Start, Run and type MSCONFIG
2) Click Startup tab and view the listings there
3) Uncheck the corresponding entry for the application which you want to disable from startup
4) Click OK

Also, you could uninstall your internet browser such as Internet Explorer. Then install another internet browser, such as Google Chrome. Only takes a couple minutes and you may find this solves your speed issues.
