mobile phone top up cards...

Hi folks, happy new year to one and all.

I hope someone can answer my query. I've lost my mobile top up card (02), the one I usually hand to the checkout girl at the supermarket and she tops my phone up with however much I want, etc. I don't think it's seriously lost, just somewhere in the house, probably in a coat pocket somewhere like that. Anyway, I phoned O2 and they said I could get a replacement from any newsagent or wherever, where they display a payzone sign. So I asked my friendly newsagent for a card, and he said they don't do them any more, I just have to hand him £10 (or whatever) and he will give me a voucher in return, which I have to phone up 02 and get it loaded onto my phone.

Can anyone out there please tell me what is the real situation - I'm a bit of a mobile phone virgin, I don't use it much, so only top up or-recharge it very occasionally.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Cheers, Chox.

Hi Chox, happy new year to you too. I do mine online, register with your provider and pay that way, it's instant and like you I only top up occasionally but what I like about that is you can do it without having to go out. You can do it on the phone too when you register with your provider.
I'm with vodaphone and the same happened to me when my card broke. It's really easy to use the voucher system. You just get a receipt with a long number on, phone your credit line and tap in the number and you're instantly credited. Been like that for a year or so,

Many thanks to you both for the help, I won't bother to drive any of the retailers mad now, now that I know I can just pay for a voucher from them.
Cheers, appreciate the advice. Enjoy the rest of the Bank HOliday. Chox.
Hi

Try Sainsburys or Tescos. The leaflets with the top up cards are at the tills. They do not have at all the tills so you will have to look. Good luck
