I have a netbook which is running slow and making a strange noise each time I switch it on...sounds a bit like a disc spinning inside it.

I've run the defrag program and cleared the history etc. but it's still running slow and making a racket.

Can anyone suggest anything please? Thanks peeps. x

(It's a Samsung NC10 - if that makes any difference).

Hi, the noise could be the hard drive clunking if it's on it's way out (which would explain it running slowly as well), or the sound could be the fan being broken or clogged. I would recommend backing up any important data in case the hard drive packs up. It might be a good idea to contact a local pc repair company, make sure they are "no fix no fee" to get a free estimate.

Thanks very much for reply. I took it to a computer shop and the chap said it's the fan that's the problem. He's cleaned it up but tbh I'm not happy with the result, it's still noisy and slow.

Think another visit is in order. :o(
