Slipping screen

the "screen" keeps slipping. The pages contents continually roll up the page and I cannot return to the top of the page using either the vertical scroll bar or the mouse wheel. This has happened several times and can last for quite some time. Sometimes I just switch off. Also sometimes the page I am looking at, or the email I am writing just minimise themselves and I have to use the quick launch bar to get them back on the screen.
Is this a bug or virus of some kind or is it an early warning of hardware failure. Monitor or Mouse?
Or is it just " one of those things " to be endured?
Would welcome your thoughts.

You description makes it a little hard to say exactly what happening...

If the entire screen is rolling upwards (including title bars and the task bar) then it's a vertical syne problem on the monitor, if it's an old style CRT monitor (the really deep ones) then there is often a vertical sync setting on them, look for that.

...or, if you just mean the contents of a web page, maybe you've pressed the scroll wheel. Do this and cursor will change shape, and moving the mouse above the centre of the screen will cause pages to scroll up; moving it below the centre-line will cause pages to scroll down. Press it again to turn off.

I know what you mean rojash about pressing the mouse wheel but in my case it is the contents of the web page scrolling up and down at a frantic speed, more so if I try to get back to the top of the page.
I have a 15 inch TFT LCD screen and the " guide " that came with it is minimal. The only things on it are 4 buttons at the rear marked M + - and A. M being the on/off button.Could one of these be the problem? I have checked all the connections. The title and task bars do not roll.
Also I have noticed that sometimes when I use the mouse scroll wheel, this changes the size of the screen instead of moving the web page up or down? Does this suggest anything?

to stop the zooming use Ctrl-0

Well, that's exactly what the behaviour I would expect if you've accidentally clicked the mouse wheel.

So the problem is not with monitor at all, it's definitely connect with the mouse.

That normally happens if you hold down the CTRL key and use the scroll wheel.

I think you have identified the latter problem rojash. My keyboard is on a pull out shelf and I lean over it to read the screen. I probably lean on the control button. I will look out for that. I dont think that gives me a frantically rolling screen though. Thank you all for your input.
