Free SolidWorks Version?

Hi, I've decided to start a project and was just wondering if there is anything like solidworks I can download for free on my computer?

Alibre Design Xpress has often been mentioned as a decent alternative CAD program. Alibre seem to have ditched the completely free version in favour of a 'free trial' version:

However this site still offers the older version:
http://alibre-design-xpress.en.softonic.com/
It's only shown as compatible with Windows 2000 or XP but that might simply be because the page hasn't been updated to show Vista or 7.

You could try seeing if you can get hold of Creo Personal Edition but the company's website (www.ptc.com) is down at the moment.

However Autodesk 123D might best meet your needs:
