I hope you will not think that this is a tall story.

Once again not sure if I have got the category right but this question has been bugging me for some time. I have decided to get it all off my chest and ask the people who know everything in the whole wide world....you lovely ABers.
How high could you build a tower with portable aluminium scaffolding if it were held stable by straps at the side of it? I have chosen for my project a hollow skyscaper with ladders up the inside of its' walls. Would I be able to build a tower as tall as the once World Trade Centre, for instance? I know that you can build a wall of granite 5 miles high before it gives up under its' own weight but am aware that this metal is not the same thing at all.
I need some helpers with this scheme of mine as well as a load of scaffolding towers. Thanks for your patience with this rather unusual question.

Just think of the tower cranes used in the erection of high rise, they are normally set within the structure to enable the building fabric to carry the load of the crane. The Burj Khalifa cranes were contained within the structure during construction. The area to contain the scaffold tower would be huge and the foundation bases would be something else!!
