hello I have been kindly given and pc from a sister company as they are upgrading there pcs, but there is junk on here and as we work in the same industry and don't want the chance they can hack in and take info off the pc of my contacts/work etc. So I think it must be best to wipe the pc of all info.

But

1) I don't know where/how to wipe it.
2) if I wipe to say factory settings does that mean wiping the operating system?
3) there is a install software/drivers for a printer they gave me too, I can't see I have the disk so could do with not wiping that, or transfering files, they also have adobe photoshop which i havent got, is that free to get online? if not is there anyway of not wiping that or getting a copy off before hand?

Thanks in advance

Reset to factory settings wipes everything including all the updates. Everything must be reinstalled.

There is no way to keep what you want except to simply unistall what you don't want.

They won't be able to get onto your computer. The firewall in your router is the excellent protection against intruders coming through the front door. Besides if they are stupid enough to hand over one of their computers without wiping it they obviously know nothing about security.

thanks I will go ahead uninstalling 'stuff'
When you have finished getting rid of the unwanted it would be a good idea to defragment the drive.
