How do I remove all of Norton/Symantec?

I recently removed Norton Anti-virus/Symantec from my system as it was conflicting all the time with my XP and made my whole system really slow.  It was the best thing I ever did and now my system is back to normal.  However, upon trying to load a computer game recently for my son, it kept saying that there was a problem with with a virtual device driver, to do with symantec.  I did a search on my system and sure enough there are still a load of symantec files on my system that I cannot remove - access is always denied and my system says another program is using them.  Does anyone know how I can remove these annoying files?  Thanks
