Samsung Galaxy S2
1 Answers
Dear All,
I am tearing my hair out with frustration here.
I am trying to upgrade the firmware on my Samsung Galaxy S2, I have not had the phone for long and I only downloaded Kies last week.
Once I opened Kies and connected the phone, I got a prompt telling me there was a firmware update available, so I clicked on “update” and the update commenced.
It downloaded the firmware components ok but after this I got a message saying “PC failed to recognise the mobile phone”, and some advice about removing the battery and reinstalling it and starting again, of which none of this worked.
The process goes no further than this and the phone display gets stuck on the Android green logo.##I have tried this on a PC with Windows Vista and Windows 7, both with no avail.
I have been passed from pillar to post by 02 and by Samsung themselves, who both don’t seem to understand what I am trying to tell them.
If anyone out there could help me I would be very grateful.
Kind regards,
Martin

Alternatively, post your version numbers and I'm sure someone can tell you if it's up-to-date.
Is your phone 'locked' to O2 or is it de-branded and open to all networks? Sometimes Operators can release their own versions of phones firmware which may differ from that of other networks or open phones.
