Can any one recommend a program to scan my computor registers and fix any problems, preferably freeware or trial.

You should always be really careful with the registry of your PC as you probably know but the suite of programmes i found to be the best is system mechanic by iolo industries just do a google search for system mechanic and it should link you. They have a full version trial and if you like it, check out pc world as they often do it for a good price, i personnally found it to be fantastic. Hope this helps.

I use Reg Supreme and Registry Mechanic (Quicksilver's link ). Reg Supreme only costs about �5. It's very  fast, very safe  because you backup as you go. It found 250 problems on the first  run.
