My mum is buying me an ipad... i'm not sure if I need to get the one with 4G mobile on it or just the wireless one??
Does anyone have the 4G one, and if so, how much do you pay a mobile provider monthly??
Many thanks.

Buying An IPhone ....

Well I've just got a standard Nokia mobile phone but I think its about time I got an iPhone. But I don't know the first thing about them .... do they work anywhere ? Do I have to pay for broadband on top of my monthly contract? Which is an easy model for me to use? It would be mainly for calls of course, plus the internet and photos. I am not technical at all so need something easy .. and not an expensive contract. I am with Orange and my monthly contract fee is £15.00. thanks all !

I bought an i phone a couple of months ago on 3 network, 2000 minutes any network, 5000 texts and as much broadband as i want for £25 per month. Having given up my landline and broadband provider at £20 per month and my old mobile phone at £10 per month i am £5 per month better off. Plus i am going to scotland next week on holiday and taking my broadband with me. I watch sky sports on my laptop tethered to my i phone. I used 31 gb of internet last month at no extra charge. Very happy with it

Thanks Celtic, but I think the charges for ipads are different to iphones.
Poster asks about an iPad and two confusing replies about an iPhone.
I pad with 4g £100 dearer than with just wifi. My i pad has 3g but i wont be using it ever. I get wifi broadband everwhere i am with my phone. You cant make calls on an i pad and the charges for i pad access are ridiculous. Dont rush in, check it out.

Thanks Celtic. That's what I'm thinking about... you can pick up wireless near enough everywhere now so the 4G prob not worth it. I can use my iphone for browsing where wireless not available.
I have the 3G and although I am mostly in contact with a WIFi set up, I paid for 3G with vodofone when i had to go into hopspital.

I pay the equivalent of £46 a month....expensive i know ....but would not like to be without 3G now.
I am totally confused. The 1st answer from Celticv11 states ''I only have a standard Nokia phone & it's about time I had an iPhone. The 2nd answer 1 minute later from Celticv11 states I bought an i phone a couple of months ago. Can someone explain to me what's going on here ?.

Knowabit - I've got an iPad (had it since Christmas 2010) and just wanted to say I love it! Only problem is making sure it is fully charged for when I want to use it as the kids play on it too.
I tried to copy an earlier post without success, got the question not my answer oops, just trying to explain to knowabit that there are alternatives to using the 3 or 4 g facility and that it is probably cheaper using wifi as i do . My second post was the one i intended, hope that clears up all this confusion

I've wanted one for ages but could not justify the cost of buying one... but my mum has been left some money and is now buying me, my sister and herself an ipad each!
Thanks Celtic11 ( thought I was losing it)

If you have a decent android phone (like my samsung galaxy) you can turn that into a wireless access point and use your ipad through that - using your normal phone data allowance.

... (un)surprisingly Apple don't let you do that with an iPhone unless you pay more money ...
Mine doesn't have 3G and I always wish it did. It's fine if you go somewhere yu can access the wifi but so many places only 3G is available.

If I'd chosen my iPad I would have bought the 3G option.
Sunny dave i use my i pad all day every day costs me nothing all included on my phone deal? I also have my laptop connected to my phone wifi and as laptop connected to my plasma tv i can watch movies and sky sports from skygo, no extra charges
If you're watching a lot of streaming using your mobile data allowance you are soon going to fall foul of your providers AUP.
I have ipad with 3g but not the ipad 4. I pay O2 £10.21 a month for internet access.
