iTunes deauthorization?!
4 Answers
I can't listen to some of my songs on itunes because it says I cannot authorise more than 5 computers. However, I only have ONE computer. This computer broke recently and had to be reinstalled. I think this installation may count to iTunes as a "new" computer. I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to deauthorise the computer, as it's my only one! Any thoughts?

You should be able to access a list of all devices that authorised and presently linked to your iTunes account. If, as it suggests, you are using all 5 then you should have the option to de-authorise them all and then you can click 'Store' again and simply authorise the machine you're using now. You don't lose your music doing this, you're just adding/removing the machines ability to play it back.
Do you not own an iPod / iPhone or similar, these and other computers count as devices.

Okay, so since iTunes is seeing your PC as a 'new' computer even though it isn't, it won't let you authorise it as a single device FROM that device. I'm not sure whether you can manage devices individually from anything other than an authorised PC or Mac so I think your only option is going to have to be to de-authorise all devices and re-authorise them manually.
As I say, this will not alter any content stored on the respective device, it only (temporarily) disables the device's ability to play back the content for the period that it is de-authorised.
