Ad- blocker

There are lots of ad- blockers to be found on google. Which ad- blocker is to be recommended? Do they have any unfortunate side-effects (apart from annoying Ed, as not being in the spirit of a free site)?

I'm using btinternet, which is IE, I think, and the latest version of Windows.

Start using Firefox as your browser and install Ad-Block Plus. You can disable it on sites like AB so as to not wind up the Ed :)
As Daffy indicates, most people around here use Firefox together with Adblock Plus (which is also available for use with Chrome).

If you insist on using the dreaded Internet Explorer, this is widely recommended:
