A little help?
if it comes up when you call up the internet (via IE or whatever), maybe you've got two homepages set. But if it just comes up regardless, I can't help, sorry
> maybe you've got two homepages set

How would you do that...?
good question, I did read about it somewhere but never felt the need to investigate further so can't vouch for its accuracy. Meanwhile, can you offer Paulineq any help?
Not until she replies to your first post...

It's this that pops up

http://www.bitterwall...Player-Big-Screen.jpg

And it does it automatically before I've chosen which search engine to use.
I hate these forced tactics that these companies employ to push their wares into our faces, it's just soo bloody annoying.
If no one knows should I report it to the bbc? Has anyone got a link, phone number, email of the correct department to make a complaint about this?

bump
sorry, I can't help then (though I doubt the BBC is to blame). However, I expect MarkRae will return with more useful advice than I can offer.

Okay thanks jono!
in windows, there is a list of stuff that is set up to start up when the computer does and I bet that iplayer has put itself in there. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I have a mac and find it hard to remember the windows stuff.
PS you dont need to bump stuff on here.
I suspect MarkRae is too Wise to return to this question.
and possibly too witty................
Too wise.....Too witty.......to who?
It is very rude to keep posting 'bump' especially when you only asked the question a few minutes before.
Pmsl @ them two up ^ there
Wrong thread for that Mick.............
I had the same problem a few months ago and was advised to :

1. Open iplayer desktop
2. Select options > general options
3. Untick the box that says 'run download manager at windows startup.'

It worked for me. Good luck.
