Printer problems again!

I have an HP1350 psc, and the "Check cartridge" light has come on and an"e" has appeared in the copy box. The printer has new cartridges in, and has printed one 28 page document, and is half-way through a 14 page document and now this happens - I've tried turning the printer off and on, taken out the cartridges, inspected them and replaced them, tried unplugging the printer and leaving it for a couple of hours, but still no joy - I got the cartriges off a well known firm online, which I have used several times before, and they always have seemed reliable in the past If anyone can think of a cure I'd be very grateful. TIA

I am assuming that you have the original disc for 'setting-up' the printer.

Personally I would unplug the printer from your computer, insert the disc and re-establish things from there. It sometimes does the trick.

Thanks Ron - unfortunately I haven't got the original disc, but have been onto the HP site and made sure that my software is up to date. I think that it must be faulty cartridges, and will contact the ink company tomorrow.
Are they HP or compatible cartridges?

I tried forages using compatibles in Epsoms and have given up after multiple problems.

The cartridges are HP which I have used many times from the on line store - what I don't understand is why they have printed out a full document to begin with, and then packed it in.
Perhaps it is the printer that is faulty, not the cartridge.
It may have nothing to do with the cartridges but a 'hiccup' with the programme in your computer. Hence the reason for my suggesting a re-load from the printers original disc.

It will be interesting to see what is said by your ink supplier; especially as you appear to be using genuine HP cartridges: or are they in actual fact HP compatibles.

Ron
I have an HP printer and if I were you I would try the following:-
Switch on printer and let it settle down to get itself sorted out.
When it has settled, open the front drop-down door to reveal the cartridges.
Now remove the mains plug for the printer from the mains socket.
Remove the ink cartridges one at a time and clean the brass contacts on the cartridge and also on the printer itself with a small artists brush dipped in Methylated spirits. Allow them to dry before replacing them in the printer.
When both cartridges have been cleaned and replaced in the printer, replace the mains plug in the socket and close the drop-down door.
Let the printer settle for a minute and then try printing.
Hope this works for you.
