Digital switchover + VCR's [follow up]

The TV is a Sanyo [brand new flat screen] a 42" Diagonal LCD 120Hz FULL HDTV
DP42410. VCR is Sony SLV - SE 800 and a Sky digi box.
Checked + swapped leads as best I can, nothing seems different. I think the easiest answer might be to get sky to install the equiv of our Virgin plus box? It's just he's willing to spend out on a tv, not on a recorder! [tch! parents eh! who'd be one!]
apologies for the new qu, but thought the old one would be buried by now. thx all

Thanks for your follow up posting. Now you have explained everything it seems that your problem is virtually identical to that experienced by my sister-in-law last autumn.
If you click on my name and go to my questions (page 2, I think) you'll find the relevant question - and very full answers from VHG which should explain things and point you in the right direction.
If you can't get at the question and answers, just let me know and I'll do a "cut 'n' paste" job for you.
Hope this helps!
