can someone tell me how i can make the text bigger in windows 7
using laptop

If you are in a web browser the hold down the CTRL key and press the + key

CTRL and - will make it smaller again

Control Panel > Appearance & Personalisation.

Under Display it says 'Make text and other items larger or smaller'

If none of the above can be used then go to top right-hand corner icon in your browser that activates "Tools Manager".
Google Chrome's looks like a spanner, Internet Explorer's looks like a gear cog.
For either, then choose the Zoom option to downgrade your screen magnification.

Oooo, ctrl and + or - doesn't do the desktop, I thought it did :)

CTRL and rolling the mousewheel back and forth definitely does change the size of items on the desktop.
