The sound Icon has disappeared from the bottom right hand side of the laptop screen(the one you adjust the volume with).
I have looked in "customise" and the sound icon is turned off and will not let me turn it back on using default.
Does anyone know how to retrieve it/turn it back on?

Many Thanks

Many Thanks for trying sibton.
Great, I hate sonys...

You say you've been into customize, but have you right clicked on the clock and selected properties and see if you can turn on the sound icon there?

If not try doing a windows update, if the drivers have gone for some reason it may pick them up again.
Is there a circle with an arrow on it bottom right, should show hidden icons
Question Author
Many Thanks to you both but I have to go to work now,so I will have another try tomorrow.
Yes sibton there is a circle with an arrow in it but it shows nothing to do with the volume control, once again many thanks to you both(The joys of work)!
It will show various icons one of which will look like a speaker, click on it and it should allow you to drag the volume up. Failing that, try control panel.
If I understand you correctly this happened to me as well. I had to go on-line and download the appropriate file.
I am running XP Home + SP3 and for me this was sndvol32.exe
Have you found the volume control?
