Why does Windows insist on searching Windows disks during driver installation for printers and suchlike? Is there a way around this? Right pain in the ask.

what version of windows are you using, this is usually because your printer/ other equipment requires other windows files from your disk that aren't install as default, obviously if windows installed everything required it would be pointless if they are not getting used it would just waste space. one thing you can do is copy the entire windows cd to your hard drive, and then when it comes up with the promt have it pointed to where you put the disk files, it will then save the location, then anytime you need the disk in future, the info will be there so you can just choose that, hope this helps, snipe!
