Computer been wiped

Hello i was wondering if anyone would know how to get all my documents/music and photos off my laptop. My son downloaded windows XP on my laptop since then my laptop has been completely swiped there is nothing on it at all. Any ideas?????

Stop using your laptop. The less you use it the less data is overwritten before then taking bookbinders advice.

Well they could be overwritten if you can no longer see them.

Can only suggest using a different computer to download some disk recovery applications and find a way to use them to scan the drives where your missing files once were. Do not load anything further to the drives in question.

Although this sort of thing is best asked of a knowledgable friend.

I havent used it since it got wiped just not sure how to get all my documents/music/photos back. i will look at the websites thank you

You need recuva (as above) another computer and a USB hard drive adapter/caddy

It is a good idea to get into the habit of storing important files on an external hard drive.

Also a good idea to tell you son NOT to download and install a new operating systems on someone elses computer.
