Viruses on computer

hi

on my computer this thing keeps flashing up saying u have 114 viruses , my screensaver has gone blue and says a fatel eroor on ie has occured ... and my computer has gone weird is there anyway i can get rid of them ,please help my computer is useless

Sounds like spyware... download Spybot, Adaware and Microsoft AntiSpyWare ... all free. Should sort it out.

does sound more like spyware than a virus.....but just to be safe, go to the above link. At the bottom of the page you can download this free anti-virus protection. Very good too. Also, if you do get this, update it every time you log on the net.

Erm - not very productive answer.. but!

The problem you have with the screen saver sounds alot like a prank I like to play on people (among others) have you got a malicious sibling/child grinning behind your back while youre on the pc??

not sure about 114 virus thing. does it appear when using internet explorer or at other times?

As far as the blue screen goes its a virus. Neither spybot or hijackthis picked it up. Its pretty harmless apart from the fact that you cant change appearences in Display Propeties. The blue Wallpaper  is probebly located in Your auroexec.bat file so you can have a go at edititing that but make a backup just in case. .You'll end up with a black background for your desktop - if you want new wallpaper you'll need to reinstall windows. By the way you'll probebly have some nasties sitting in Windows/Temp folder so delete everything from in there.

finally do a google search for Highjackthis. Its a bit too technical for me to discribe how this programme works as I have only used it using trial and error method
