cpu core battery?

how do i change the CPU's core battery? I cant get my pc to load up, tried everything i could. An IT guy said it could be the core battery???

well its not the cpu, its the motherboard's battery. if you open your computer, on the big circuit board you'll find a button battery... silver and about 1cm in diameter. just take it out and replace it with one thats the same kind. making sure not to touch anything else or cause static effects etc.

What exactly do you mean when you say your PC does not load up. Are you referring to POST or Operating System.

The battery in question provides standby power to your motherboard to maintain the CMOS settings, i.e. time/date/CPU settings.

If your PC POSTs correctly showing correct CPU speed on your startup screen followed by a single beep prior to loading the operating system, then the battery is not at fault.

If it does get as far as attempting to load the OS then you have other problems such as a faulty HDD, loose IDE cable etc or a corrupted OS.
