Garmin Nuvi 1300 - address problems.

For some reason, it's not possible to find Henderson Road (for example) in Portsmouth on the Garmin Nuvi 1300 by putting 'Portsmouth' in the 'city' slot of the 'Where To?' screen. Instead, I seem to need to put the region of the city that the road's in. When Portsmouth is put in, it comes up with 'not found'. No problem, as I know where it is. What, though, could I do if I were in a city I didn't know well?

Is there a get-around for this?

Just checked it on Google and it comes up as Southsea. I put that on my Nuvi and it accepted it.

Thanks for the response, but......

Southsea is just a district of Portsmouth. What if I'm in the car and can't access the Internet to find out which region a road is in? Is there any way of getting the Garmin to accept the city rather than needing the district? I don't suppose the problem is limited to Portsmouth.

It certainly is odd, I checked a road in London and the Nuvi found it ok without having to know it is in lewisham and roads in Brighton and Hove come up as Brighton. Also Manchester rd, in Fratton, another district of Portsmouth, came up under Portsmouth. It seems it might only relate to Southsea, an e mail to Garmin perhaps?

from 1999 Until 2010 Southsea was classed as a separate town, I suspect your sat nav is still working on that assumption.
