In reply to your advice. I downloaded SVG anti virus and Sygate Firewall - no problemo. However, I think they are blocking to many things. Eg. I can't access hotmail, I can't delete or send e mails in Yahoo, I can't log in to the anwer bank (I'm writing this at work).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your problems but unfortunately im not sure i can help you !

have u tried looking in the allowed programs list in sygate to see if its not allowing these progs to communicate in or out ?

Sygate is a little complicated to set up for beginners. You would have been better advised to download Zone Alarm instead which is recognized throughout the industry as being the best firewall available, free or otherwise and is more user-friendly.
