not sure what is going on but cannot get any youtube link to open, work.
Have tried posting links just now on here, in the youtube spot, it doesn't do it, instead goes below the message, if that makes any sense. Is it some sort of blocker?

Question Author
any help with this would be good, as can't help anyone with links, or indeed look out for good videos to watch.
If you go to Youtube, does it work there?

www.youtube.com
Question Author
no, get the web page up, but cannot open any link, get black screen on all links. I had a problem with computer month or so ago, and had the shop do a fix, any chance that they could have changed settings. I have not had a problem in the past with looking at youtube links and posting any number on here.
Question Author
not exactly sure what i am doing as per usual
but in programmes info have as follows

Adobe flash player 10 activeX 26/1/2010
Adobe flash player 11 plugin 19/9/2012
Adobe reader 9.5.2

sure i just updated adobe recently, as reminder comes up automatically.
What browser, what op system ? Have you tried system restore ?
Question Author
Firefox, Windows 7, and why would i need to do system restore
no idea why youtube link has just stopped working.
Do not do system restore! I really wish people would stop suggesting that for very minor problems.

Do you have a script blocker installed in firefox?
Have you tried a different browser (and does it still not work)?
SR will reset your pc to when it worked ok 4 u.
Tamborine, you obviously have no idea about how much overkill it is to use system restore so why do you keep suggesting it?

em10, please DO NOT use system restore.
Try disabling all addons in firefox, reboot the browser and then try YouTube again.
Question Author
use firefox as said and have had no problem with youtube up to now at all, suddenly it won't open, if use IE it will open youtube, which i confess i am baffled by.
It works for me Daffy but I guess your way might be better
Question Author
daffy no worries i wouldn't do system restore, what worries me is that when the computer went into the workshop for repair they may have changed certain settings. I am no techie, so forgive me for wondering at what's changed.
Question Author
the pc works ok, just not the youtube link. it does as said in IE but not in Firefox which is my preferred browser.
I think you (or the shop who fixed it) may have installed a plugin for Firefox called NoScript, this has the effect of disabling the function to play videos (unless tweaked to allow them). I used it once and had to remove it for this reason.
Question Author
thinking on it i have posted a number of youtube clips just recently, well after the shop fix. aghhh
Try re-installing Firefox again, you don't have to remove the old version and you won't lose your bookmarks.
Question Author
that's if can remember doing it in the first place, i wonder if i have just blocked something by mistake. will look tomorrow, night all.
Question Author
sorry have same problem, and just received an automatic update from Adobe which i have installed, so still nothing. If you had anblock on would also discount any youtube clips. Frustrating if you are not particularly technically minded, and don't know what to look for
awww Em, not sorted yet, I know how impotant music is for you. Since Utube works in IE you must have a conflict (virus) in Firefox. Try downloading ffox via IE.

If nowt else, I may have poked an'other to point out my errors - lol
