when i connect my ipod to my pc it disables my mouse.  I know my ipod works as I have had it connected to another pc.  Any ideas?

It's possible that you have an IRQ conflict between yoor mouse & firewire/USB port. Look in device manager to see if they conflict or share the same IRQ number
