Hi, can anyone help me.

Anytime I logg off from my pc, the clock keeps resetting back to 2007 and I have to keep updating it. I do press OK, once I have done this, but it still returns to a date in 2007 and is very annoying. Is there anything else I should be doing.

Please help.

At a guess, replacing the battery on the motherboard...
BIOS battery replacement perhaps. just a thought.
Or is it CMOS, never understood these things

Thanks, but where do I find the motherboard, do you mean the keyboard?

Sorry, if its a dumb question...
Desktop or laptop ?

Strictly speaking, it would (used to be) the CMOS battery, the BIOS wouldn't need a battery to retain it's settings.

"but some companies do not allow an external internet connection"

Assuming you just mean the internet time sync, domained computers can't internet sync, they have to sync with the domain controller.

Take the old one, about the siz of a 10p piece. Possible a cr1023 type, it will say on the old battery.

Yep, I can be a pedant when it comes to computers... it's my job to be one.

As it happens domain time syncing is a nightmare, especially so when running hyper-v servers. microsoft really haven't made it easy!
But yes... sorry to OP, we are going off topic.

For the OP, it's a simple case of changing a battery.

CR2032, knew it was summat like that, same one for bathroom and kitchen scales.

Maybe the bathroom scale batteries need replacing. I put on 5 stone today.

Jeez! talk about making a mountain out of a molehill! needing an "engineers manual" to replace a CMOS battery!! what the hell!

To be a pedant again, methyl... you do seem to like making simple tasks sound hard! (and seem to base a lot of your answers on 20 year old computers)

If it's a desktop it's a simple matter to fix, why try and make it sound harder than it is.
