Removing a toolbar.
51 Answers
I have downloaded mystart.incredibar.com (accidentally) and I want to remove it.
I've been onto Add/Remove Programs in the control panel I and can't see it there, but it keeps appearing every time I switch the computer on and I don't seem to be able to delete it.
Please could anyone advise me how to get rid of it? Thanks in advance.
PS: I am using Windows XP and Google Chrome (don't know if that's relevant as my knowledge of computing is very basic).

I think I might just have to bite the bullet and pay for someone who knows what they are doing to sort it for me.
Thanks very much though, for all the advice you've given - you have been very kind.

Oh, if you're sure? I hate to think that you might have to pay for a solution!
Perhaps if you repost (or add to this thread to bring it back into "Latest Posts") in the morning, someone else will be able to guide you more competently - give it a try before handing over any dosh, please?
Good luck anyway & I'm sorry I couldn't be of more assistance tonight, but have subscribed to the thread & will pop back as soon as I can tomorrow :-)

w'willow - that would seem to indicate that it isn't stuck in Chrome now.
Next - click the '3 bars' icon again, then click 'Settings'
In the "Search" section, click 'Manage Search Engines'
This should bring up a list of available search engines & Chrome should be marked "Default".
If it isn't, hover over it & click the "Make Default" button that will appear.
I'll stop there for the moment...

@methyl - again, with respect, I think you're suggesting actions that the OP would be uncomfortable with trying.
@w'willow - if you've got through my last post, we then need to know if "Mystart" or "incredibar" appear in that list.
If one is there - hover on it & an 'X' will appear at the far right - click the 'X' to remove it from the list.

O-kaay & rats! In that case, I'm sorry w'willow, but I can't confidently help any further.
methyl's suggestion of ensuring you have the latest updates from Malwarebytes (open it & there's an 'Update' tab to click) & your own of running a full scan (will take a good while longer to complete) are good ones & again, can't do any harm.
I'm sorry that my knowledge is too limited for this & that we've been unsuccessful. There are AB'ers that will be able to talk you through other ideas though :-)
I do wish you luck & am going to sign off for now - good night, be well :-)
