Disappointed

Well an packing my bags and shortly heading to the airport to go back to Zim. I have spent the weekend on my own in Jhb. My hubby and I were supposed to come down together then on Friday morning he said he was too busy and would come down on Saturday and I should go on ahead, which I did. Come Saturday when I phoned to see if he was on his way to the airport he said he wasn't coming as it wasn't worth his while to come down for one day so I spent my birthday yesterday by myself . It was rather lonely taking myself out for lunch and I couldn't even get plonked as I had to drive myself back to the flat. Well that is my moan for the day. Sorry for that. If I'm not on here for awhile I will probably have been arrested for committing chicken murder.

Well........like many husbands he considers his job to be of paramount importance....the family have to be provided for and at times must come second.

I have been in that situation many times.

What is it with birthdays in adults?........the day that you were born some 3 or 4 decades ago....or longer. Kids birthdays fine.....but adults?

There will always be a price to pay for maintaining a family in a high standard and seeking success in life......depending of course on how one defines success.

This may not be the case here and yes i can understand your disappointment.

Sqad - I wouldn't care about celebrating my birthday on the day. Birthdays are an excuse to do something you don't normally do in day to day life. Go out for a nice meal, weekend away etc...

They made arrangements though, he let her down. That cannot be excused.

Well I have arrived home and as yet have not committed any form of violence. Mind you I haven't seen him yet, he sent a driver to pick me up.
Thank you all for your commiserations and for your birthday wishes. tee hee Dave will keep that cake in mind for his birthday next year.
I did say on Friday that we should cancel the trip but he said no I should go ahead and he would come Saturday then to say it wasn't worth His while. It was supposed to be about me.
I also work and run my own business, as does he, so it's not as if I rely on him to provide for me.
Time goes by so quickly in our busy lives and I think that ones birthday is their one special day in the whole year so it is nice to do something special no matter what age. Any way I am going for a girlylunch with my friends tomorrow and guess who will get to drink the duty free champagne that I brought back. I will drink a toast to all the lovely abers.
