I'm trying to apply for a job with a local company via the application form on their website. It's stated that the form should be filled in then emailed.
When I select the appropriate section, the pages load, a flashing cursor appears on the first line but it doesn't register anything I type in.
There's obviously more to this electronic black magic than my IT "skills" can handle.
Any clues please?

Could you try saving a copy of the document to your PC then trying to fill in that copy

I'll give it a try fourteen85, thank you.
You aare sure, flashing cursor or not, that, that box is active ? Probably won't work, but ensure you click in it first before you type.

Otherwise e-mail he company and tell them there's a web page issue. They may wonder why they've had no applicants :-)

Tried doing that Old_Geezer, no joy. I'll keep the odds in my favour and mention a possible issue at the interview.
Extra brownie points for mentioning it in the e-mail you will attach the form to ?
They must have sent you a 'read only' form. You need the form you can edit. Get in touch with them and ask for the correct form.

I'll do that on Monday Tilly2, or maybe just print it off and use a pen and hand it in.
Have you tried opening it in a different browser to your usual one? Some forms work in IE but not Firefox or Chrome.
Question Author
Tried that just now daffy, switching from Firefox to Internet Explorer.
The same result I'm afraid, only slower. :)
When the page loads does the address in the end of your browsers address bar end .pdf?

If it does click back on your browser, and then instead of clicking on the link with the left mouse button, right click on it and select save as (or similar... depending on browser).... save the file to your hard drive and then open it in your normal PDF reader and you hopefully should be able to fill it in and then save it and email it.

Thanks for that Chuck, everything went as you suggested till I opened it at the end. Got the same result though.
I understand what you're saying, I have various PDFs saved and they open and perform as needed.
I appreciate you and averyone else taking the time to reply.
Thanks again.
If possible that the PDF reader you have installed doesn't support PDF forms... if so install a new PDF reader.

(make sure you untick the ask toolbar stuff during the install)
