how can i get rid of windows updater.exe.tmp ran avg and it still there tried msconfig to get it off start up but it keeps starting

Don't know if that is a nasty or a genuine file.

Install Malwarebytes. Scan the computer. Before you let it remove anything it finds, turn off System Restore - some things will reload from System Restore next time you restart.

Restart the computer. Do another scan. Once computer is clean turn back on System Restore.
